Cambridge University researchers have found that the scales on the Cyphochilus beetle, which is native to South-East Asia, are able to scatter light better than anything else in nature. To the naked eye the scattered light appears as a brilliant bright whiteness. The remarkable discovery is revealed in a research paper published today (15/8) in the journal Scientific Report.
